The 2025 National Men's Retreat of the PNG Bible Church was a triumphant success, held at the Tambul Bible School Campus. The event featured powerful preaching, engaging class sessions, and inspiring testimonies that touched the hearts of attendees. Approximately 5,000 men from the 24 districts of the PNG Bible Church gathered for this transformative occasion.
Pastor Steven Keneya, the retreat's main speaker, delivered sermons that profoundly impacted many lives. He highlighted Papua New Guinea's 50th year of independence, celebrated as a Silver Jubilee, noting that the nation gained freedom from Australia without bloodshed or civil unrest—a blessing he attributed to God's grace. Referencing Leviticus 25, Pastor Keneya described the Year of Jubilee as a time of freedom, restoration, liberty, forgiveness, and productivity. "In this Jubilee year, we must seek spiritual freedom, liberty, and restoration. God will help us grow spiritually, reclaim what the devil has stolen, and forgive those who have wronged us. True inner peace and freedom come only through forgiveness," he emphasized.
Devotional messages by Pastor James Poning were equally transformative, rekindling the spirits of attendees and igniting a passion to spread God's fire in their local churches, families, and districts. The presence of God was felt powerfully, touching each participant in a unique and meaningful way.
The retreat welcomed brothers from other churches, including notable Christian professionals such as Dr. Eric Kwa, Secretary for Justice and Attorney General; former Internal Revenue Commissioner, Mr. David Sode; Dr. John Kuimb; and Mr. Danny Puli, former Chief of Staff to then-Parliament Speaker, Theo Zurenuo. Dr. Kwa spoke about recent legislation passed by Parliament declaring Papua New Guinea a Christian nation by law. He explained that the constitution was amended to recognize PNG as a Sovereign Independent Christian Nation, with the Bible designated as the country's national symbol and God the Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit acknowledged as the God of Papua New Guinea and the Universe. "The responsibility now lies with every Christian, pastor, and church denomination to witness, preach, and evangelize, fulfilling the law passed," Dr. Kwa urged. He stressed that failing to spread the Gospel and touch lives would mean neglecting this legislative mandate. Christians must rise to fulfill the Great Commission.
On Sunday, Rev. Wane Ninjipa, General Chairman of the PNG Bible Church, announced an exciting opportunity to plant churches in Australia, as registration had been granted and a certificate of incorporation presented to Rev. Pilipo Miriye, Foreign Missions Director. Rev. Miriye gratefully accepted the registration, commending those who facilitated it and paving the way for church planting. An offering exceeding K300,000 was raised as seed capital to establish churches in Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, K110,000 was raised to build two staff duplexes for Tambul Bible School, supporting its growth and mission.
The Men's Ministry, led by Brother Danny Kepi and his Executive Committee, continues to be a vital arm of the church. Their efforts have successfully raised funds for evangelism, soul-winning, and infrastructure development. Let us pray that God continues to guide them to organize, plan, and strategize effectively to do great exploits for His glory.
The 2025 National Men's Retreat concluded on a high note, leaving attendees spiritually renewed and inspired. The 2026 National Men's Retreat is set to take place in Ruti, Baiyer River District, Western Highlands Province.
