2024 National Men's Retreat Concludes with Joy and Transformation

Can anything good come out of Goroka, the capital of Eastern Highlands? Come and see. Though it was September 16—the nation's Independence weekend—and the town of Goroka was packed with Eastern Highlanders and others from across the provinces, all celebrating with traditional dances and the rhythmic beats of kundu drums. The day marked a memorable occasion: Papua New Guinea’s Independence from Australia on September 16, 1975.

Amidst these festivities, the National Men's Retreat was also held, with over 7,000 men from the 24 Districts of the PNG Bible Church coming together to celebrate a different kind of independence—the spiritual freedom given through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross at Calvary.

God’s presence was felt powerfully at every service, making this a retreat that attendees will never forget. It was truly historic.

God used Pastor Tomscoll Paiwa and Pastor Joseph Eme mightily as they delivered sermons that transformed countless lives. In the outreach sessions, over 50 new souls came to Christ. One of the key moments during the retreat was a session led by Dr. Eric Kwa, Secretary for Justice and Attorney General, who spoke about the importance of establishing PNG as a Christian nation by law. He also acknowledged the far-reaching impact of PNG Bible Church through its preaching, crusades, and Radio Light’s programs, which touch lives across the nation with inspirational songs and counseling sessions, offering hope to many. Dr. Kwa encouraged PNG Bible Church to continue its good work.

Rev. Wane Ninjipa, the General Chairman of the PNG Bible Church, expressed gratitude to the National Men's Ministry, led by Brother Danny Kepi and his Committee, for their leadership. “Please continue the good work the Men's Ministry is doing. Man is the head of the family, and when we change, our homes will change," Rev. Wane said.

The 2024 National Men's Retreat concluded on a high note, leaving all who attended with lasting joy and spiritual renewal. The next retreat is scheduled to be held at Tambul Bible School in 2025.
